Maybe better to have a read on vbadvanced.com but it is exactly as it is written above.

1 - rename your current index.php to forum.php or whatever you want.
2 - rename cmps_index.php to index.php.
3 - complete step 2 as it written by using your renamed forum.php as forum file.

You should have already removed the comment line for url in cmps_index.php before uploading.

That's it.......when you go to http://yoururl/index.php it will bring up the vbadvanced page. Don't forget to add a link for forum & portal/home in navbar and that's it..
