Yep, you can do it using conditionals.

In the postbit template at the very top put this:

<if condition="$post['postcount'] == 1">

Then at the very end put this:

<else />

Then after that grab all of the code from the postbit_legacy template and through in at the end of the postbit template then after it all put this:

</if>

There ya go. :-)
