thanks for the comments guys.
the lack of strong colors was intentional so that i could then use color in my ads effectively.
(marketing thing to get people to look where you want them to look.)
i'm still working on a bunch of ads, and the portal page isn't complete yet, but if you go here (the portal home page) you'll see what i mean.
