If you just wish to add a field, you can do so in the "User Profile Fields" section of your Admin Control Panel.

I'm not sure how you added your MSN field to begin with, but normally, if you add the field from here, it will appear in your register section AND your profile.

If that's how you added it, make sure the setting for the field is "No" under the "Hidden" option.
