I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. Just from looking at this forum and the one on vBulletin.org, I think I figured it out. Here's a quickie of what I did.

1. Download magnifiying glass icon and upload it to your /images directory.

2. Open your postbit template and remove the current $ post[search] element and move it to just behind the user name.

3. Open your postbit_search template and change and change the code to match how you'd like it to look. If you'd like to see what mine looks like, I'll put an attachment to this message.

I didn't come up with anything, I simply copied what appeared to be done on this board, so all the credit goes to SaintDog on this one.
