which started me thinking:

One can create a custom profile field, with checkboxes for each forum or a multiple-selection drop-down called "Exclude from new post search"

One can modify the navbar template so that &exclude=$bbuserinfo[fieldn] is added to the newpost call.

But, here's where I get stuck....

The checkboxes need to list the forum names The exclude needs to list the forum numbers. Now checkboxes can display one thing and return another, but where does one edit that? Can one just go in and edit the usercp template--or what? How do we go from fforum names to forum numbers?
