I would suggest to disallow the users from your board to not be able to edited thier posts/threads after a day or two since usually new threads get replyed to before that time, but depending on your board it may vary...

The only down side to this is that after that specified time no one will be able to edit thier post being a thread or just a simple post.

You can do this via ADMINCP > vBulletin Options > Message Posting and Editing Options

Look for this certain option under that group: Time Limit on Editing of Posts
