It seems that GAS3 has been eliminated because the author appears to have broken one of your rules ... rather than whether or not GAS3 is a new hack deserving of a nomination. Yes, vB.org can flex its muscle by penalizing the author, but at what cost to the community? While rules may not "be made to be broken", it is the wisdom and judgment of the people who enforce those rules that proves their merit.
And in this case, I fail to see your wisdom.
No doubt, you have the power. And along with it, the power to discourage brilliant & generous coders. Whatever the path through which GAS3 evolved, it is not a revision of a previously nominated hack and deserves to be recognized as such. The author has asked you to look at the code.
In fairness to all, should you do less?
