Thanks Mark, but that is the situation I'm trying to bypass. It sends you to a "post only" window, and then even if one clicks the thread name at the top, it takes you to the beginning of the thread.
What brought this up, is that users on my forum want to refer to other posts when they reply. I wrote instructions, and came up with about 9 steps. (Nine steps!!!!!) There has to be an easier way. My forum people are not the most computer literate on the planet, and I'm hoping for just a simple button to click, or some copy/paste operation.
Here are the instructions I posted, which is what makes me want to find something SIMPLE.
To refer someone to a particular post:
1. Find the post you want to refer people to
2. Notice the little number at the right side of the header. (See it up there? This post is #3 )
3. Right-click the number.
4. Click "Properties"
5. Select the address shown. In this case it is
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....05&postcount=3
6. Select and copy it. (I've found selecting from left to right works best, as sometimes the very end of the address doesn't show until you select it.
7. Paste it into the post you are composing.
After you follow the process described above, and someone clicks your link, they will be taken to the post, in its own isolated window, and thus out of context. In able to see the post in context, the reader must then:
1. Click the title of the thread, which is displayed in small text at the top of the "post only" window. Then they will see the thread which contains that post.
2. Scroll down to the post to see the most recent post it is replying to.
I am hoping there is some "user friendly" hack to avoid this complicated process to achieve a simple result.
You have a GREAT site, by the way, Mark.
