This is a great hack, one question though...

When a user applies to have their link listed, shouldn't there be some sort of indication of what size their image should be? Or better yet, some way of having it autosize if it is too large

Also, not sure if this is an ongoing issue with anyone else, however, no e mails are being sent to those who apply to have their site listed. I know I applied on your site and received nothing?
