Having a real publishing package and the ability to place vBulletin posts on other pages is all you need. So if you want a very clean (not nuke like jumbles and blocks) interface which is much more flexible, if you have a good CMS, you can easily put VB components where you like them such as the latest posts that were made and the ability to see the latest comments too.
My site is super clean and many wonder how it's so well integrated and easy to use. It is just a product of having really good essential components where they are and only "integrating" areas where needed. Total cost of all the components is under $400 and you can keep it $190 for the most part. If you add up all the frustrating hours of fiddling and dealing with failings of nuke, you will easily realize that you wasted away chunks of your life and time when you could be earning much more money than what you spent.

well it depends on what sort of integration people wants. For me, all I use is a simple user integration I recoded and it works quite well, least to say.
