Boffo is right...
on my side, i was to release all my hacks here in vB.org, but for the time being, i just see people replying to the threads without having even tested the hacks... they just complain because it's not answering all their needs... and as i'm not a freelancer, i don't do hacks just for fun. when i release something, it's because a client requested it, and i was able to release it afterward...
we have our own support website, because our site is not only dedicated to vbulletin, but to some other third-party softwares that also have their own support forums...
if i release all my hacks to all these forums, i will have 5 or 6 forums to visit each hours to see if someone request a debug or ask for a change... and i have to tell that these simple hacks are free.. i can't loose all my time visiting other forums just for that...
i understand your point MrNase, but you're on the client side, you don't want yourself to loose your time, but remember that on the coder side, it's the same...
having a single forum to give support i can do more:
1- give specific support for people that really need it
2- answer specific product requests for larger needs than a simple hack
3- make a follow up when a client pay for a job - i can't do that on vb.org
.. yes, this would be cool that Jelsoft spread their identification database, so i can eventually lock your account to your license, so you don't need to register and prove your validity, but for now, there is only vbulletin.com and the german site that have access to this aside of here at vb.org ...
so because of that, most coders release their hacks here, and give support on their own website, because it's easier that way...
remember, even me will not release all my hacks here, because i'm interested in you visiting my site and download my other hacks that may be more interesting... and even see you buy some subscriptions for specific hacks or pay me for a specific job i can do - because we're a team of developpers that build complete solutions for our clients... this is our living!
