Get a new host. AOL is pretty strict on inbound email. They don't like it from dynamic IP addresses. They don't like it if it's on ANY RBL. They don't like it if there is no rDNS entry. All of these things are thing you should be aware of and check often. If you get them resolved, you should be in the clear.
But if your host is telling you not to accept members who "don't know any better" and use AOL, I'd switch hosts. Quick.
