I've been looking into this as well. It is apparent that problems like how and where post counts will take effect, permissions, etc. etc. But the basic premise is something that I'm sure a lot of people want. (And each board will of course have their own license).

Obvously it goes beyond a simple user authentication system. But the basic point is simply to let users from one board be able to use another board in one's network *without* having to re-register or log-in to the other board(s). If I had two or more boards for example, it would be nice to let users from my first board have the ability to use the other board without having to register or login all over again.
