I'm betting it's not an error at all. I had problems with Jewels but once I reloaded it, the problem went away. Anyway, my money is it's all based on your servers bandwidth and cpu speed.
I've been monitoring my server (local, not hosted by someone else) with a full t-1 line (1500kbps up/down) and I have no problems running over 70 of the games and a busy forum with over 30Gb of downloadable attachments and PhotoPost Gallery files. The biggest drain is cpu usage. It was banging my cpu up to 100% at times. Once I moved it from a 1.7GHz server with 1Gb ram to a 3.2GHz server with 2Gb ram it's been perfect!
I think John said he's working on a release that isn't so cpu intensive, but don't quote me.
