been running this hack on my site and have only encountered two small problems, both of which are supposed to be fixed in the next rc. those are the news moderation not working and the custom sideblocks overwriting themselves.

the reported problems in this thread are the result of people:
a) not reading the instructions, and
b) failing to run the vb maintenance scripts after upgrading from vb 2.x.
