I completed this hack earlier this week because our very large forums could not use the usual search engine. Since the license doesn't allow me to just send out my search.php and I don't have the time to package it up nicely it is now in someone else's hands to do that for me. Hopefully you'll see it soon.

It took me less than a day to put it together. It consisted mostly of commenting out a few hundred line of vB's phrase logic (which is replace by mysql's boolean search capabilities) and then changing a couple of lines of the SQL code. From the user's stand point it looks EXACTLY the same as the old search engine
