Yeah, quite easy to adapt. Install the hack excatly as shown in the instructions, but set the "Field Editable" to "No" for the new profile field.

That way only Admin's or Mod's can view that field. Rather then put your colour "CC00FF" in the code, put it in the new profile field via the Admin CP.

This will allow the board Admin to control who has what colours be it just themselves, or a standard user if required. The colour not being hard coded allows for a quick change if required as well.
