No, as long as you have a 2.xx board you can upgrade. Also, hacks you have installed shouldent affect the upgrade. I went from 2.2.3 to vB3 Beta 3 with no probs at all.
It's recommended to upgrade to 2.2.9 or 2.3.0 first before upgrading to 3.0.0. This is because 2.2.9 and 2.3.0 have a DIFFERENT database structure to previous versions.

So upgrade to 2.2.9 or 2.3.0 if you want to avoid database problems and corruption in the future.
