I dumped nuke altogether which is a pain and now a total dead end thanks to FB closing the project. I knew that would happen eventually because he closed the open source dev from the beginning and now it looks like nuke is on its way out.

I have been using NePHP and the time it saves is well worth the money (given the hours, days, weeks of bloody nuke frustration and limitations, moduling, etc.). It fully integrates vbulletin which is fantastic and also allows you to put in custom PHP code as well, all different kinds of ranking for articles, autoarchiving and other cool stuff. I sold a domain and have an extra licenses that I'm selling for $295 ($500 regularly) and includes a free upgrade to version 5. Right now it is far better than the limited competition.
