Use all the gimmicks in the world, if you do not do some simple things it does not matter.

I spent about four to five hours a day years ago talking to the members over AIM. All the while posting on the forums, working on this dev or that dev, and just BSing with the members. It takes hours and hours of stroking - thats it.
