Yes. It's actually pretty easy. You create a custom style for the forum, and in the control panel force the style to override the user's style.

You then modify the newreply, newthread, and editpost templates to include the new form fields AND to call newreply2.php newthread2.php, etc. OR to call different functions within the original posting php files.

The new files or functions, however you prefer to do it, process the extra fields and put them where you want them.
