Racknine has always been able to handle my site well on a shared server. I've been on other, more expensive servers that died as soon as we had around 40 users online. I average around 30-40 online users and it usually peaks around 60-80 every day. They do charge for extra bandwidth, but their "Enterprise plan" is only $30/month for 2.5gb of space and 50gb of bandwidth, plus you can combine plans.
