Well if you're a professional developer, you'd have a backup copy available and you'd also probably have a local server to test scripts on.
When you install hacks, you don't honestly install them straight onto the server do you!?
Try installing it on a copy of your vBulletin which is local and which no-body else can access, and if it goes wrong, all you've lost is 15 minutes or so...
