That is correct. You will not get support for a hacked board from their support staff, or from vbulletin.com. By hacking the software, you cannot expect vB staff to be able to support it.

Support for hacked boards and hacks can be obtained here at vbulletin.org - which is an "unofficial" support site. You are asked to validate your license on this site because we want to make sure that you are a valid license owner - as only someone who has paid for a vB license can use vB.

You are not paying to access this site - you are paying to use vBulletin - and we are checking to make sure that you have paid to use your vBulletin - there is a big difference.
