I would say no, these hacks wont slow your board (I dont know Spired friend though. This does NOT mean it slows the board, just means I don't know its algorithm).

Just install another hack: Microstats by Teck. And you'll able to monitor if there is a load in your server and if yes when. Pinpointing the problem will help your cure it.

But I still think your problem is not related to these hacks unless you applied them wrong in someway..
