Ok..so much for this being simple!!!

Sorry Xenon, not trying to say it is your fault, nor anyone else's. Truth be told, i have over 40 hacks installed, so it could be any one of them causing the problem.

I have the categories set to no as you state above. I also have the show locks set to no. But the locks still appear. The problem is, if i set open for new posts to no, it shows the lock. If i set it to yes, people post thread that wind up in that forum, even though the threads are not viewable, since it is a category, not a forum.
