rose, the query grabs from each forum the most recent threads, not posts. so is basically complicated to pull the last post and also it will add more queries, wich you dont want.

basically the hack is expandable because you add vBulletin code to it. however i dont recommended because it adds queries. you need to keep it decent, like max 30queries on that page.
the easiest way to reduce the queries is to limit the number of latest threads and news to 5 for latest threads and 10 to news.

please keep in mind i dont support this hack anymore due to vBulletin project to release it's own vbHome version.
