in your admin options
go to thread display options there you'll find this:
User Settable Maximum Posts per Page
If you would like to allow the user to set their own maximum posts per thread then give the options seperated by commas. Leave the field blank to force them to use the MAXPOSTS setting above this option. ex. 10,20,30,40

so leave it just blank

hmm, don't sure i understood everything, but search for a statistik panel hack in the release forum, i think there is such a hack
