How about a variable in the Last 24 Hours: box for
Visitors:

The front page already has Most users ever online but I don't
think I've seen this request in a specific hack. It's similar to Who
was online today hack but maybe not the same. This wouldn't
necessarily list the names of the people from the last 24 hours
(although that might be interesting too) but it would certainly count
the (unique) visitors - perhaps by IP address?
