Vbulletin took a different path with Vbulletin 5, and in doing so they ruined it for many of their customers.
They don't really provide plugins themselves, and they have made it so difficult for developers that they all switched to Xenforo/IPS.
I have always run Vbulletin 3 & 4, and even briefly 5. But there is simply nothing available for Vbulletin 5 that works well and is also updated.
As an example, a Shoutbox..... There is simply nothing decent that works. (and continues to work)
But also all kinds of small plugins such as an "alphabet division in the forums", or a good "hide-thanks" system, etc.
That they didn't address this with Vbulletin 6 is a big mystery. You can't tell me they've lost very few customers.
I am now running Xenforo, which takes some getting used to, but in the end it is as if I have Vbulletin 4 back in a modern guise.
I think it's a shame that Vbulletin has done this this way, I was always a big fan of Vbulletin.
