You can copy a lot of the code from the template, then add a conditional to show "Anonymous" instead of the actual username. From there you would also need to install a modification that prevent the display of IP Addresses (otherwise your moderators might be able to determine who the anonymous user is, based on IP address display icon).

It can be done, with some tinkering of the template and adding in some conditionals in the correct spots
