vBulletin has already integrated blogs into the core software. They require no third party add ons or modifications. If you're concerned about losing content your best options are to run daily backups of a vbulletin database and to backup blogs on another platform such as WordPress. In my own experience I've been using vBulletin software for eighteen years and any loss of content has always been due to the hosting and not the software.
