Thank you for the replies everyone. I was already aware of the legalities of redistributing the code but as mentioned, if I'm only using it on my own server it should be fine right? I paid for this and many other vbsocial mods back in the day and have tried every possible method to ask for help or permission. I can't find any evidence that he has been active on any project or community for several years. Even his Linkedin is inactive.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to pay anyone for this work at this time so I'll just have to keep at it. I fixed the Youtube parsing last night. I'm not going to mess with the link previews for now. I just need to fix it not posting to other user's walls now.
