Simple fact is that many vB3 & vB4 owners already have all the mods they want, and there is virtually nothing for new vB5 owners.
People are still buying vB5, but installing vB4, so there is a need there, some people on vB3 are moving to vB4, so a need there.
I expect it to be around a few more years yet, but this will never be as busy as it once was (unless something totally unforseen happens).

All well said. Totally agree. vB3 and vB4 sites already have everything that they want. So no reason to come back againa and again.
Also that "People are still buying vB5, but installing vB4" is a fact even if many don't like to accept it as true.
In person, I still love and support vBulletin. The only that vB is missing is not a feature but a responsive template. Have bought and tried all other software (IPB, xenForo, WBB). They have some good points, I do agree. But the overall rating for vB is the higher.
For vB5. If someday IB decide to give away a free license to coders/designers just for developing usage, then I'll try to see if I can code for vB5. But paying $230 is a risk that I can't effort.
