Not quite sure what you mean with your first question but regarding your second question, just place the rewriterules under each other and it should work fine.

For example:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^member/([0-9]+)-(.*)$ member.php?$1-$2 [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^forum/(.*)/(.*)/([0-9]+)-(.*)$ showthread.php?$3-$4 [R=301,L]
