Update 1: Downgraded to php 5.5, and its working again. so looks like a php version issue...

ps: still hoping for mediawiki 1.25 support....
Thank you for your attentiveness. This problem will be corrected in a future release of Mediawiki. Also, we do expect a supportive release for Mediawiki 1.25 in the nearest future.
