For one, I'm not American. I think the attacks on Afghanistan are sad and useless. A nation has been destroyed to find one man... And now that the nation is destroyed you still haven't found him. It would have been cheaper and easier to offer a billion dollar bounty on him.
As far as the humour, to say someone is sick for their taste in humour, well, let's turn this around. Any bets that you have told jokes involving Afghanistan lately? I sure have seen a lot of them on the Internet. More innocent Afghanis have been killed during this "war" than Americans.
So, personally, I think any jokes about people of Middle-Eastern decent is sick. How about jokes about Jews?
In reality, most jokes are based upon the misfortune of others, racial slurs, misconceptions, etc.
Take your favourite jokes. Blonde jokes? "Hate"-based. A Jew, a Christian and a Canadian in a boat? "Hate"-based.
This picture was simply done as a way for the author to cope. Dark humour abounded in the weeks after 9/11 and that has nothing to do with the sickness of people's minds. To think that is to have no sympathy at all for the way in which people work.
If you remember back to Vietnam, there was a mass of humour about that. It is called dark (or macabre) humour. There is nothing sick about it, it's a documented coping mechanism and to think otherwise is to be either defensive or closed-minded.
I don't really mind which one you are as neither is truly "bad". We are all defensive and closed-minded about certain things. For all I know you could have lost family during this tragedy, which it truly was and nobody is denying that. Every single death is a tragedy.
Nakkid thought this was personally funny so he posted it. It wasn't something he put up to hurt or make others feel uncomfortable. I'm sure we can all grow up a little and let this be without blowing it up.
