This is true, many do offer services to "downgrade" however its usually costly and I have yet to hear of anyone offering it at an affordable price point and by that I mean why spend money paying someone to write a custom script when Invision Power Board (IPB) has a vB5 converter so to sum it up....
- Don't pay if their "conversion" is expensive, instead purchase IPB use its converter then simply use impex and do a 360 and go right back into vBulletin. It's clean, the converter works fine.
- If they're not charging that much then by all means do so if you wish just be sure to run backups beforehand.
So you can pay someone IF not tooooo expensive OR you can purchase yet another software but imo at least then you have a another forum alternative and something for your actual money i.e. a product you retain versus a service performed once.
