I remember you and I having a somewhat long discussion about this very thing, some time back. I gave you many suggestions for speeding up your site.
When fully 35% of your page load bytes are font files - which most browsers won't render anyway but still download - I start looking there for trimming fat.

The problems with the forum appear to be mostly hosting related. The forum itself isn't too fat, and doesn't have a egregious number of calls, and I see you did optimize your images here - should be loading ALOT faster than 13 seconds.
The splash page - you understand that's not helpful at all for your SEO? Google hates slow, fat pages.
