No, the team thing is something different, we used it for moderators for a little bit but ultimately disabled it as it wasn't used enough to warrant being activated. You use the arrow to the left of the username and select "send private chat to...." There are commands you can type out too which you can get more information on by clicking the question mark button on the lower left of the chatbox. Here is what it says about PMs (check it out though, it covers more topics....)

Command /pm
To send a private chat to an user, you can do it by using the menu on the left of the chats or by using one of the following syntaxes :

/pm uid userid your_message : Send a private chat to the user identified by the userid passed as command parameter.
/pm uname "userid" your_message : Send a private chat to the user identified by the username passed as command parameter.
/pm your_message : Send a private chat to the last user to/from which you have received/sent a private chat.
