I disagree. I would and do use TeamViewer, GoToAsssit, or any other remote access software to assist people. Most of the time these are the users that want to learn how to do things so that they do not have to pay me a second time to it or apply what I show them to other similar issues if they feel comfortable. What I generally do is mirror the desktop and then Skype with them first and let them perform the work as I watch over. If it becomes too much then I can gain control with their permission and show them that way. If they don't like what I am doing or question it, they can easily and quickly disconnect me. I try to educate all my clients.

Over Skype they can watch your screen, it does the same thing, but better than teamviewer as you are not going through them they are only watching your desktop
