Those versions are fine to run with 3.8.7PL2.

Since you are on your own server, you may want to post in the Server Configuration forum on vbulletin.com and be specific about the issues you are having. You will want to post all your server specs per the thread at the top of that forum and then George can suggest what you change for your issues.
