IF and I mean IF you're not going to heavily customize the site and IF you're not adding in tons of modifications you could go w/ vB5 on their cloud hosting - if you're an inexperienced webmaster or new forum owner then perhaps that will save you time and frustration. On the other hand most I see who have experience and go to the cloud usually move their site to a new host within a few weeks if not months - its not for everyone however it can save a few folks grey hairs if their not thinking outside the box in regards to their forum.

IF it were me though personally, I'd go with vB4.2.2 and utilize the mods already out, plus not to mention free styles too. Here is also a link to a list of mods that the 3.x versions still work on 4.x - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=269719
