I?ld like to take the chance to address some other issues in the meantime.
1. As I found out on your site rayzzz.com, the video quality is appropiate for the tiny videos. But when popping the video out to make it bigger, the quality stays at the same level as for the tiny ones. To do so produces a very low quality video, that as near to unusable. Unfortunal the quality settings don?t change accordingly to match the window size. I would love to see that these could be adopted to the window size. As the traffic goes directly from end to end, it shouldn?t bother how much traffic they use of their bandwith - as long as its not ours
2. A suggestion: it?s a bit unhandy to have no options in the admincp, where we could alter some settings. Like usergroups settings (i.e. what about your moderators? If an administrator isn?t present, nobody could ban or kick trolls). With usergroup settings it would be possible to restrict acces to the video part to i.e. premium members aso. There would be infinite possibilities, where we could make use of usergroup settings. May be you want to implement this to your mod, as it seems not that hard to do.
3. - and this is my biggest concern:
So far I understood your mod, it tries to manipulate the vBulletin database via alter and create. A chat-system commingly has a heavy toll in terms of server load and usage. To merge a chat-system into a vbulletin database is in all cases only second best. Sure, it minimizes the installation time. But the fact that the system has a significant negative impact to vB4/vB5 forums performance - that has evolved more worse than bad in comparison to vb3 or other forums software -overweighs the ease of installation in every aspect. I would like to suggest that an isolated database should be utilized. Last but not least due to security reasons. Flash und js are still one - if not
the - main entrance for hackers. Because I am not able to check the whole mod with his endless .swf and js. files for security holes, I?ld definitly strongly recommend going this way with a seperate database.
Your mod is really very promising and I am eager to give it a go on my site, as long as the said isn?t overweighting the benefits. But that said, site security can?t be overweighted even by a "best mod of all times", so I really hope you?re going that road - or somebody proofs my concern as unlegitimated
All in all: a refreshing surprise what you've created with this mod.
Keep up the good work, TandyServices!
