FYI, I found a join query that was running a little slow on every thread:

LEFT JOIN xperience_stats AS pointstable_10 ON(pointstable_10.userid = user.userid)
WHERE user.userid = x LIMIT 1

The solution is to add an index on xperience_stats for userid. This will actually help from scanning a lot of data, especially if you have a large forum.
