Smart phone data usage
On my smartphone I have Verizon cell service that has 1 gig of data monthly. I'm hardly ever away from wi-fi and seldom use but maybe a 10th of my data limit. In the next few weeks before school starts back I plan on taking 2 of my Grandsons on a fishing/camping trip. While there I thought it would be neat to run the gps app i have on the phone. That way when we come home I can download the info showing our routes of travel both on the water and in the camping area/trails.
Question: Running the gps app for 48 hours will all be on data as the gps uses data. Should I increase my data plan? Does gps really use that much data? I know I can pre-load the maps to limit usage for that purpose, I'm just worried about any other data that may be required.
Ideas/suggestions ?
