Load your forum's 'moderate threads' page directly:
http://yourforumname/modcp/moderate.php?do=posts
it should show no threads/posts awaiting approval

Then reload your forum homepage and the 4 threads notification in the upper right should be set back to 0

I just tried that, and it is still showing the phantom 4 thread notification.
