Wait a sec.. I thought you disabled the cms and were using your forum as the home page? Are you doing something different?

If you want to use your forum as the home page just add a simple 301 redirect in your root htaccess... This will redirect users from the root index.php to your forum.php

I may be getting other posts confused with this one. I could swear the op said someone showed him how to not use the vbulletin cms. I don't see that post though now. I think I am losing my mind today.
