Well worked with vb4 a prety large forum and a vb5 forum in startup fase.
What my experience is the the community for vb4 is way lager then for vb5

I think that almost everything done in vb4 can be done in vb5.
I think vb5 is a bit slower in loading a site.

I don't know what to recomend if you demand a lot of third party mods then go for vb4 else go for vb5
The edit page in vb5 is nice, the rest i don't use it realy. Forum (channel) creating i do it by admin pannel.
